Southern California News Group and the Los Angeles Daily News examined how the two candidates for California Lieutenant Governor would approach college affordability and workforce development.
Fiona Ma told the outlet she would advocate for UC and CSU tuition freezes, expand affordable student housing and increase paid internships. She also emphasized stronger partnerships between colleges, employers and apprenticeship programs so students can move more directly from education into good-paying careers.
Fiona also pointed to her experience expanding access to capital for small, women- and minority-owned businesses and said she would continue working to reduce barriers for businesses while connecting workforce training to growth industries including healthcare, agriculture, technology, advanced manufacturing, clean energy and the creative economy.
