Our 58 Counties journey brought us to San Mateo County, from Half Moon Bay along the Pacific Coast to the communities and businesses of the Peninsula. San Mateo County brings together agriculture, fishing, small businesses, tourism, innovation, and some of California’s most beautiful coastline. It is also a place where protecting our environment, creating housing, supporting education, and expanding economic opportunity all intersect. California works best when we recognize what makes each community unique while bringing all of us together. 58 Counties. 1 California. In Sierra County, I stopped in Loyalton, the county’s only incorporated city, and visited the Milton Gottardi Museum to learn more about the people and industries that shaped this remarkable part of California. Railroads, lumber, ranching, and generations of local families are all part of Sierra County’s story. Preserving that history while supporting the future of our rural communities is an important part of building a stronger California. Every community matters, regardless of its size. 58 Counties. 1 California. Stronger Together. #SierraCounty #Loyalton #58Counties1California #FionaMa #California #RuralCalifornia

From the farms that help feed California to the communities along the Pacific, Ventura County reflects the balance between economic opportunity and protecting the resources that make this part of our state so special. I’m traveling California because every county deserves to be seen, heard, and represented. 58 Counties. 1 California. Butte County is a reminder of how much California’s communities, universities and infrastructure are connected. I visited Chico State, part of California’s incredible public higher education system, and stopped at Oroville Dam, where a plaque notes that soil from all 58 California counties was included in its construction.
