Two California political strategists pulled in Reed Awards from Campaigns & Elections' Politics magazine this week.

The "Best Earned Media Around a Single Event" went to GOP strategist Kevin Spillane of the Stonecreek Group for his event opposing Proposition 5, where five current and past California governors together announced opposition to the measure.

The best "Website: State Legislative & Local Races" went to Blackrock Associates for its Web site for Assemblywoman Fiona Ma, D-San Francisco.

We'll assume Ma's account on the site of being on the same flight as Paris Hilton had nothing to do with the award.

UPDATE: Someone from Stearns Consulting writes to say that the San Francisco-based firm won for "Direct Mail - Local Candidate" and "Yard/Outdoor Signs."
