With Opportunity Zones now made permanent under H.R. 1, Fiona Ma is highlighting California’s preparations for OZ 2.0 and the opportunity to bring greater certainty for communities, investors, and long-term economic development.

• 1,200 California census tracts have been submitted to Governor Gavin Newsom.
• The public comment period runs August 3–28, 2026.
• The full list of 1,200 nominated census tracts is now available.
• Public input will help inform the selection of California’s 618 final Opportunity Zones for the new map.
